High demand on Passport Slots

If you failed to book an appointment slot for your passport today, you can try your luck tomorrow said the DFA. Passport slots are hard to come by these days that applicants see this as a problem, this despite the thousands of slots opened daily by the DFA.

According to Ricarte Abejuela III, acting Director of the DFA’s Passport Division,the demand now reaches the “very, very high” demand for appointment slots.
Abejuela said that it’s like the supply versus demand phenomenom. Presently, the demand is very high but the DFA is still catching up with how to supply the slots. A whopping 40,000 applicants try and book on a daily basis but only 12,000 are given slots. Applicants said the best time to secure slots is by trying it on during the wee hours of the morning.

Alan Peter Cayetano, Foreign Affairs Secretary gave his word that come June this year, the passport application processing will be faster in relation to the new developments in their equipment and facilities.
